Ruth Graham wrote this poem before she met Billy Graham and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. I promise to come back soon and finish my love story!
Enjoy it!
Dear God, I prayed, all unafraid
(as we’re inclined to do),
I do not need a handsome man
but let him be like You;
I do not need one big and strong
nor yet so very tall,
nor need he be some genius,
or wealthy, Lord, at all;
but let his head be high, dear God,
and let his eye be clear,
his shoulders straight, whate’er his state,
whate’er his earthly sphere;
and let his face have character,
a ruggedness of soul,
and let his whole life show, dear God,
a singleness of goal;
then when he comes
(as he will come)
with quiet eyes aglow,
I’ll understand that he’s the man
I prayed for long ago.

The year now is 2006. I carried Melissa's words in my heart for all those years, very sure that my future was in God's hands. Yes, I made some mistakes on the way... I followed my deceitful heart and almost got married in the wrong time! Fortunately God was merciful in my disobedience and put me again on the right trail. But after this hurtful experience I became so afraid of making another mistake and it wouldn't be easy to give my heart to somebody else again.
So....in the end of 2006, in one of those endless best friend's meetings, me and my two best friends decided to write a letter to God asking for "the one and only"! :):):) Sounds funny, I know! But we took it seriously. Alessandra wrote mine (she is a very good writer!) and she knew me better than anyone!
So she started asking for someone who had a heart for the Lord, same vision, purpose.....someone who was handsome but didn't know about it....hahahha. Someone who knew the true beauty was in holiness and purity.
Well.....errgg.....I have to say I also asked for a blond guy with blue eyes! (ok, I will give you time to stop laughing!). But if you were a Brazilian I bet you would love blond hair and blue eyes too! It's just different from the average population I used to be with .... :):).
I remember asking Alessandra to write "olhos bem claros" just because it was too hard to find someone in my city with blue eyes, besides that I would be ok with green eyes too! haha
Now the letter was written! We prayed together about it and I saved it in my special document box. :)
We hardly could imagine what was about to happen.... I figured out that most of times we don't get what we want because we simply don't ask! (wait, I've read this in the Bible before! :):)

Sunday quick word
" Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps BURNING, like men waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes" (Luke 12: 35-37)
Are you ready? Prepare the way!
